Huaneng Wulian 100MW Photovoltaic Project

The Huaneng Wulian Photovoltaic Power Generation Project, located in Wulian County, Rizhao City, is a mountain photovoltaic project invested and constructed by Huaneng Shandong Company. The project has a total investment of approximately 930 million yuan, a total installed capacity of 200 MW, and a design life of 25 years. It uses 540W high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar cell modules and sets up 59 photovoltaic power generation units, all operating in a stationary mode. It is reported that after the initial 100 MW of full capacity is put into operation, the annual power generation will be 129 million kWh, effectively replacing 40,800 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tons.

"By combining photovoltaic power generation with agricultural production, without affecting the original land use, we have achieved 'dual use' and 'multiple uses' of the land. This not only provides clean and low-carbon new energy but also allows for the cultivation of high-value-added crops, effectively promoting farmers' income and contributing to rural revitalization," the project director explained. The project adopts a "photovoltaic-agricultural complementarity" approach, comprehensively utilizing the land in a three-dimensional manner. Photovoltaic panels are laid on top for photovoltaic power generation and grid transmission; green vegetables are cultivated under the photovoltaic panels, creating a new type of agricultural industry-university-research collaborative demonstration project with highly efficient land use. The project explores a three-pronged development model integrating photovoltaics, agriculture, and tourism. Leveraging its advantageous location and favorable transportation links, it utilizes both agricultural and ecological resources. Based on ornamental seedlings and organic agricultural product production and picking, it develops various tourism projects encompassing sightseeing, leisure, and experiential activities, forming a distinctive, large-scale, and modernized sightseeing agriculture sector, adding a new highlight to the local tourism industry. Once completed and operational, the project is expected to generate 87.37 million yuan in annual revenue, contribute 28.5 million yuan in taxes and profits, create over 500 jobs in the surrounding area, and increase farmers' income by 7.5 million yuan.

To ensure the project's early completion and commissioning, Huaneng Shandong Company earnestly implemented Huaneng Group's "high-efficiency, high-quality, and low-cost" infrastructure policy and the deployment requirements for creating high-quality projects. Fully embodying the "three thousand spirits" of "enduring hardships, making every effort, and speaking eloquently," the company overcame numerous difficulties, including recurring outbreaks of the pandemic, supply shortages, and heavy summer rainfall. With high standards, high efficiency, and high quality, the company successfully connected the first batch of 100 MW photovoltaic projects in Wulian to the grid, adding new momentum and writing a new chapter in the company's green and low-carbon transformation.
