Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge

Spanning three places, the bridge is as interdependent as lips and teeth.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, stretching 55 kilometers, is the world's longest sea-crossing bridge project and also the most challenging mega-project in terms of comprehensive construction difficulty: building a 120-year-old steel giant bridge in the rough seas, constructing the longest immersed tunnel at a depth of over 40 meters underwater, and traversing a 300,000-tonnage shipping channel and a white dolphin sanctuary... Every challenge was unprecedented.

Behind these world-class challenges lies a powerful driving force of innovative breakthroughs and technological support," said Su Quanke, Chief Engineer of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Authority. Since the preliminary preparations began in 2003, with research projects under the National Science and Technology Support Program as the main focus, more than 200 research institutions and thousands of scientists have conducted over 300 research projects related to the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, ultimately supporting this world-class project.
